Frequently Asked Questions
What audio formats are supported?
MP3 Cutter supports MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, M4A, OGG, and WMA formats. You can export as WAV (instant) or MP3 with quality settings (128-320 kbps).
Is there a file size limit?
Yes, the maximum file size is 100MB. For files larger than 50MB, you'll see a warning as processing may take longer. All processing happens in your browser's memory.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No! All audio processing happens entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API and FFmpeg.wasm. Your files never leave your device, ensuring complete privacy and security.
Can I trim multiple audio files at once?
Currently, MP3 Cutter processes one file at a time. After trimming and downloading, you can upload another file. This ensures optimal performance and memory usage.
What's the difference between WAV and MP3 export?
WAV export is instant and maintains perfect quality but creates larger files. MP3 export takes 10-30 seconds to encode but creates much smaller files (with selectable quality from 128-320 kbps).
How do I select the exact region to trim?
Drag on the waveform to select a region, then fine-tune using the time input fields (HH:MM:SS.mmm format). You can also use keyboard shortcuts: Spacebar to play/pause, Escape to stop.
Can I add fade effects?
Yes! You can add fade in and fade out effects ranging from 0 to 5 seconds. These create smooth audio transitions at the start and end of your trimmed clip.
Does it work offline?
After the initial page load, basic features work offline. However, MP3 encoding requires the FFmpeg.wasm library to be loaded first. Once loaded, it's cached for future use.
Which browsers are supported?
MP3 Cutter works on all modern browsers that support Web Audio API and WebAssembly: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge (latest versions). Mobile browsers are also fully supported.
Can I use keyboard shortcuts?
Yes! Press Spacebar to play/pause the audio, and Escape to stop playback. These shortcuts work when not typing in input fields.
