Frequently Asked Questions
What is HEIC and why convert it?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is Apple's default photo format since iOS 11. While it offers great compression, it's not universally supported. Converting to JPG or PNG ensures compatibility across all devices and platforms.
What happens to transparency when converting PNG to JPG?
JPG doesn't support transparency. When converting PNG to JPG, transparent areas are automatically filled with a white background. This ensures the image displays correctly in the JPG format.
Which format should I use?
JPG: Best for photos and images with many colors. PNG: Ideal for logos, graphics, and images requiring transparency. WebP: Modern format with excellent compression for web use. AVIF: Next-generation format with superior compression (smaller files, better quality). HEIC: Apple's format, great compression but limited compatibility.
Does conversion reduce image quality?
Converting from lossless formats (PNG, HEIC) to lossy formats (JPG, WebP) may reduce quality depending on your quality settings. Converting from lossy to lossless won't improve quality. Use High Quality (90%) preset to maintain near-original quality.
How many images can I convert at once?
You can convert up to 10 images at once. Each image can be up to 50MB in size.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No! All conversion happens entirely in your browser using client-side processing. Your images never leave your device, ensuring 100% privacy and security.
Can I convert HEIC files on non-Apple devices?
Yes! Our converter uses browser-based technology to convert HEIC files on any device - Windows, Mac, Linux, or even mobile browsers.
Is this converter free?
Yes! Our image converter is completely free to use with no hidden fees, watermarks, or registration required.
